Chiral Graphene Hybrid Materials: Structures, Properties, and Chiral Applications

Abstract: Chirality has become an important research subject. The research areas associated with chirality are under substantial development. Meanwhile, graphene is a rapidly growing star material and has hard‐wired into diverse disciplines. Rational combination of graphene and chirality undoubtedly creates unprecedented functional materials and may also lead to great findings. This hypothesis has been clearly justified by the sizable number of studies. Unfortunately, there has not been any previous review paper summari… Show more

“…The 2D graphene are more investigated in their chemical and biological applications rather than photonics. The structures, properties, and chirality of graphene-based chiral materials have recently been reviewed 662 . It appears that the chiral hybrid materials can demonstrate promising applications in nearly all specific areas related to chirality, including asymmetric catalysis, enantio-differentiating detection, and enantioselective crystallization, biological applications and luminescent materials.…”

“…These smart materials can transform the chiral recognition and amplification events into their macroscopic performances. 125,126 Furthermore, the flexible peptide sequences and their chiral features facilitate the fabrication of biosensors with suitable sensitivity and selectivity using bottom-up strategies without required additional bio-functionalization. 127 These biomimetic systems may give some instructive information and accelerate a wide application in the bioseparation, 48 cell culture, 128 enzyme catalysis, 129 brain disease treatment, 130 optical devices 62 and memristors.…”

“…From the above considerations, scientists could incorporate highly selective weak interactions (e.g., host‐guest interaction, and synergetic H‐bonding interactions) into the biomimetic system, thereby introducing chiral preferences into these elaborate architectures. These smart materials can transform the chiral recognition and amplification events into their macroscopic performances 125,126 . Furthermore, the flexible peptide sequences and their chiral features facilitate the fabrication of biosensors with suitable sensitivity and selectivity using bottom‐up strategies without required additional bio‐functionalization 127 .…”

“…It can be anticipated that numerous chiral polyamides will be generated once polyamides are reasonably integrated with chirality feature. Based on this idea, some interesting components like metalorganic frameworks (MOFs), [125] covalent organic frameworks (COFs), [126] graphene, [127] magnetic nanoparticles, [128] etc., can be incorporated with chiral polyamides to develop new advanced functional chiral materials with intriguing properties and chiral uses.…”
