“…The minute eggs can survive for up to a week within delicate plant tissues. Typical first and second-instar larvae measure between 0.36–0.38 mm and 0.68–0.71 mm, respectively, while pupae can range from 0.78 to 0.80 mm in size ( Deka et al, 2020 , Kaur and Lahiri, 2022 ). Adult thrips have pale yellow bodies with dark brown antecostal ridges on their tergites and sternites.…”

“…However, overuse of certain products may lead to the development of insecticide resistance or reduce natural enemy populations. For example, foliar application of the insecticide, spinetoram [Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) Group 5] is currently relied on for thrips management in strawberries, resulting in reports of possible resistance development given the lack of alternative effective modes of action (Kaur & Lahiri, 2022). Spinetoram has systemic properties with very low toxicity to natural enemies and other beneficial insects (Pugh et al, 2015; Srivastava et al, 2008) and currently provides significant control against S. dorsalis in pepper and strawberry (Lahiri & Panthi, 2020; Seal et al, 2006a, 2006b).…”
