The article examines the political potential of Latin American countries in bolstering their influence within the Indo-Pacific region (IP). It delves into the Indo-Pacific concept, championed internationally by India and Japan, as an alternative viewpoint in contrast to the predominant orientation towards China as the regional leader in the Asia-Pacific region. Carlos Exudé's "Peripheral Realism" provides the theoretical framework for the study, although Latin American states strive to move beyond their peripheral status.The focus is on four Pacific coastal countries in Latin America: Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Chile. It identifies key areas of cooperation between these nations and major players in the IP such as India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. Chile and Peru have established a more robust transpacific partnership compared to their neighbors. However, Mexico possesses a significant advantage due to its unique geographical position intersecting the Atlantic and Pacific routes.Colombia, along with Mexico, Chile, and Peru, formed the Pacific Alliance, an integration association that emphasizes closer ties with Asian countries. Over its decade-long existence, this Alliance has significantly increased in both economic and political significance. The article highlights the pivotal role of this alliance in fostering Asian-Latin American trade and entrepreneurship.The study also delves into the prospects of integrating the two regions by extending the reach of Pacific economic megablocks (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, Trans-Pacific Partnership) to Latin America. After the ratification of the TPP by Mexico, Peru, and Chile, an agreement that unites all four Pacific Ocean continents for the first time emerged. The advent of the RCEP, which includes powerful economies such as China, South Korea, and Japan, demonstrates a clear global shift from the Atlantic to the Pacific and from West to East. The inclusion of Latin American countries in these processes is poised to advance their regional and global interests on the international stage.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Latina women. Although they have a lower incidence of the disease when compared with other population groups such as non-Hispanic white and African-American women, some studies have shown that Latina women have a higher risk of mortality when compared with non-Hispanic white women. This phenomenon can be explained in part by the higher prevalence of aggressive subtypes in Latina women, particularly the triple negative. Such differences in breast cancer-intrinsic subtype distribution between population groups might be a conse-quence of a variety of risk factors differentially present among population groups. Here, we provide a full description of risk factors that might be associated with the high prevalence of the triple-negative subtype in Latina women. We assessed demographic (socioeconomic status), modifiable (reproductive patterns, obesity, and physical activity), and nonmodifiable (family history, germline BRCA mutations, and genetic ancestry) risk factors. The observed inconsistencies among different epidemiologic studies in Latinas warrant further research focused on breast cancer subtype-specific risk factors in this population.

I. CAMBIO DE GOBIERNO Y POLiTICA EXTERIORLas elecciones realizadas en octubre del 2004 en Uruguay aparejaron varios hechos significativos que de por si sefializan el camino de algunos cambios que se estan transitando en la region y tambien en el pais. La envergadura y profundidad de los mismos, su consistencia y continuidad y el alcance tanto en terminos politico-institucionales como en las interacciones sociales (locales, nacionales y regionales) senin punto de reflexion obligado para los analistas de distintas disciplinas y alimentanin los debates y anaIisis en los proximos afios.En el caso de Uruguay, socio pequefio de la region, los cambios electorales fueron significativos si nos atenemos a la historia republicana del pais, desde el momento que por primera vez asume un gobiemo de izquierda, con las candidaturas de Tabare Vazquez y Rodolfo Nin Novoa, actuales Presidente y Vicepresidente de la Republica. Ademas de ello, confirmando una tendencia de las ultimas elecciones, la coalicion de partidos y movimientos de izquierda que se expreso con el lema Frente Amplio -Encuentro Progresista -Nueva Mayoria, consiguio la mayoria absoluta de escafios en el Parlamento. Los resultados electorales de la primera vuelta dictaminaron que mas de un 50 % del electorado voto por el Frente Amplio -Encuentro Progresista -Nueva Mayoria. Ello deparara otro elemento novedoso en la historia republicana del pais, ya que seran los Partidos Tradicionales, el Partido Nacional y el Partido Colorado, los que desde la oposicion, deban pronunciarse en el Parlamento, sobre determinadas cuestiones en que se exigen mayorias especiales de acuerdo a las disposiciones constitucionales.Este nuevo mapa electoral de Uruguay converge con los cambios politicos que se han registrado en los distintos paises de la region, llevando como ya ha sucedido historicamente en otros periodos, a una convergencia
