Child Sexual Abuse: Children at Risk Are Being Ignored

Abstract: KEY PRACTITIONER MESSAGES • Evidence exists for the concomitant presence of sexual abuse with other forms of maltreatment; however, this audit study suggests that questions that could arouse the suspicion of CSA are not being asked consistently. • It is important for healthcare professionals to specifically consider sexual abuse when seeing children who present for Child Protection Medical Assessments.
