“…The exact pathogenesis of Muehrcke's lines is unknown. It may be related to oedema in nail bed due to hypoalbuminaemia or alteration of nail plate attachment to the nail bed owing to the vascular alteration following chemotherapy 11,12 . As all the involved children in our study had normal levels of serum albumin, the frequent occurrence of Muehrcke's lines is more likely to be caused by the less strong adhesion of the nail plate to the nail bed in the affected children.…”
