“…As shown in Figure 1a, PDGF receptor a staining scores were high in 6 cases (27%); 3 cases displayed intermediate staining scores (5)(6)(7)(8), whereas low staining scores (0-4) were observed in 13 cases (59%). The proportion of tumors displaying high staining scores for PDGF receptor b was higher: 13 cases (59%) showed high staining scores for PDGF receptor b, whereas 6 cases displayed intermediate staining scores (5-8) and only 3 cases (14%) displayed low staining scores (0-4; Figure 1b).…”

“…1,2,4 Surgery remains the therapeutic mainstay, 3,5 but due to infiltrative growth and high vascularity of these tumors, gross total resection often cannot be achieved. Chemotherapy and cranial irradiation do improve survival, 6,7 but the latter is usually not an option in very young children. Therefore, development of novel therapeutic approaches would be desirable.…”

“…Several reports demonstrated that postoperative irradiation confers a survival advantage in patients who have undergone a subtotal resection as well as gross total resection [1,9,10,24,29]. Some authors recommend regional radiation [30] whereas others performed craniospinal radiation [11,24].…”

“…12) Prognostic improvement of CPC was reported with chemotherapy. 13) However, the efficacy of chemotherapy for ACPP is difficult to discuss because the data is too limited to analyze. Our patient underwent 4 cycles of chemotherapy using cyclophosphamide, vincristine, cisplatin, and etoposide, because the new lesion emerged adjacent to the brain stem.…”
