Chemoradiation therapy for regional recurrent gastric cancer

Ключевые слова: рак желудка, регионарный рецидив, химиолучевая терапия.The paper describes a clinical case successfully treated for regional recurrent gastric cancer developing 20 months after surgery. A chemoradiation therapy cycle (a cumulative focal dose (CFD) of 40 Gy with a daily fraction of 1+1.5 Gy in combination with xeloda and eloxatin) and a repeated radiation therapy cycle (CFD, 28 Gy) after a 4-week interval were performed. Spiral computed tomography showed the continuous regression of the tumor that is undetectable now. The patient has been alive for 5 years; her state is satisfactory. By taking into account the given case and the data available in the literature, the authors consider that it is expedient to return to a discussion of the role of radiotherapy in treating gastric cancer.
