Chemometric analysis of spectroscopic data on shape evolution of silver nanoparticles induced by hydrogen peroxide

Abstract: The study on the shape evolution of metal nanoparticles (MNPs) is crucial to gain an understanding on controlling the shape and size of metal nanostructures. In this work, a detailed study on shape evolution of silver (Ag) nanospheres to nanoplates induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was performed. According to the growth mechanism of Ag nanoplates, the spectrophotometric method combined with chemometric analysis has potential to reveal the structural evolution process as observed by surface plasmon resonance … Show more

“…Moreover, the incorporation of silver nanodisks (Ag NDs) in OSCs has been rarely reported. Ag NDs, which are a type of Ag nanoprisms, have attracted considerable attention due to their extreme degrees of anisotropy, morphologically dependent plasmonic properties, and a wide range of light absorption and light scattering from visible to near-infrared region [42][43][44] . The incorporation of Ag NDs is expected to improve the light absorption, light scattering, and light trapping in OSCs.…”

“…[68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75] We employed MCR-ALS analysis to investigate the presence of intermediate nanorods species with distinct morphology and spectral characteristics during glutathioneinduced transverse overgrowth on Au NRs. In particular, when the spectroscopic data are coupled to multivariate curve resolution analysis it would be possible to decrypt useful information about the morphology variation as well as kinetic of process.…”

“…Because H 2 O 2 'kills' the less protected isotropic nanoparticles preferentially at the early stage of the synthesis, only the remaining anisotropic nanoparticles grow into larger AgNPLs. 8,9,11,12 In fact, we observed only isotropic spherical nanoparticles (D < 5 nm) without H 2 O 2 (data not shown). Although this mechanistic explanation has not been spectroscopically evidenced, it has been still the most persuasive and rational proposal.…”
