Chemistry, Pharmacology and Medicinal Property of Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia L.)

Abstract: Russian olive is known as the Functional Novel Natural Medicine, Elaeagnus angustifolia L. Extract are considered important for drug development, because they are reported to have Pharmacological activity in the Asia, Middle East especially China and India. For a long time Elaeagnus angustifolia L., which is commonly known as oleaster or Russian olive, is a deciduous plant from Elaeagnacea family. This plant can tolerate and survive a wide variety of environmental conditions. Traditionally, different parts of … Show more

“…For example, the peaks at a range of 498.25 cm −1 indicate Zn–O stretching vibrations; a band at 1106.12 cm −1 is related to C–O stretching, the peak at 1457.85 cm −1 corresponds to ‘C=C’, peaks at 2017.57 and 2980.72 cm −1 are related to C≡C and –C–H ‘stretching vibrations, and the peak at 3840.15 cm −1 can be ascribed to alcohols and phenols of OH stretching. These peaks indicate the availability of various biomolecules (flavonoids, minerals, sugars, sterols, alkaloids, p-hydroxybenzoic, caffeic, protocatechuic acid, isorhamnetin, quercetin, kaempferol derivatives, catechins, vitamins (tocopherol, vitamin B1, vitamin C, α-carotene)), which have been identified in previous studies 22 24 . According to earlier research work, the IR bands appearing between 470 and 800 cm −1 indicate Zn–O stretching vibrations 26 , 27 .…”

“…In the present study, we synthesized ZnONPs using E. angustifolia . This plant was selected due to containing multiple chemical components (flavonoids, minerals, sugars, sterols, alkaloids, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, caffeic acid, protocatechuic acid, isorhamnetin, quercetin, kaempferol derivatives, catechins, and vitamins (tocopherol, vitamin B1, vitamin C, α-carotene) 22 24 . These biomolecules play a potential role in the reduction, stabilization and capping of ZnONPs.…”

“…This is in line with our research that using licorice and elm extract simultaneously and separately, the expression of collagen genes has increased compared to the control group, which did not nd any effective substances. (21) SoheilaHamidpour and Ra Hamidpour et. al(2019) with the aim of chemistry, pharmacy, and medicine of Russian olive or ElaeagnusAngustifolia L, it has been determined that the compounds of sesame extract or olive Russian cause the production of proline and hydroxyproline, which are the main components of collagen, which improves wounds and anti-in ammatory effects.…”

“…According to the study, these extracts cause the expression of collagen genes. (22) Goodarzi et.al(2017) For the protective effect of ElaeagnusAngustifoliaL. Alcohol, the fruit of the hydroalcoholic extract of nephrotic toxicity caused by cyclophosphamide in mice, had the highest effect between doses of 20 to 40 mg. We also used 20 microliters.…”

“…Agathosma betulina [ 27 ], Gerinium wallichianum [ 28 ], Bergenia ciliate [ 29 ], Rhamnus virgata [ 3 ], Nephelium lappaceum [ 30 ], Berberis balochistanica [ 4 , 31 ] and Tamarix serotine [ 32 ], have been explored for the synthesis of NiONPs. One such naturally occurring plant having important pharmacological and medicinal values is Elaeagnus angustifolia (family Elaengnaceae, local name Sangzala) owing to the presence of different green chemicals vitamins (vitamin B1, tocopherol, α-carotene, and vitamin C), flavonoids, sugars, sterols, alkaloids, sugar, minerals, protocatechuic, p-hydroxybenzoic and caffeic acid, quercetin, isorhamnetin and kaempferol [ 33 , 34 ]. E. angustifolia (ElA) is reported to alleviate several serious ailments such as jaundice, cancer, asthma, inflammation, osteoarthritis, diarrhea, gastrointestinal problems, and rheumatoid arthritis.…”
