“…Aglycones can be simple structures, such as short alkylic chain alcohols or fatty acids, as well as more complex ones, such as carotenoids, terpenoids, steroids, quinones, flavonoids, iridoids and alkaloids, among others [99]. Glycosides are widely distributed in nature and they can probably be found in all living organisms [100].…”

“…These kaurane glycosides and/or some related compounds had also been isolated from species of Xanthium spp. (Asteraceae), Wedelia biflora (Asteraceae), Cestum paraqui (Solanaceae) and Iphiona aucheri (Asteraceae) [99,124,125]. Wedeloside (81), an aminoglycoside isolated from Wedelia asperrima Benth.…”

“…Chemical shifts were calibrated indirectly through the glycine C = O signals recorded at 176.3 ppm relative to TMS. 1 H, 13 C, HSQC and DFQ NMR spectra for CDCl 3 or CD 3 OD solutions were obtained using a Bruker 400 MHz spectrometer. Chemical shifts (d) are reported in ppm downfield from TMS.…”

“…Aryl galactosides occur widely in nature [1,2]. Their diverse biological activities make them attractive targets for synthesis [3] as well as for structural investigation [4,5].…”

“…Natural aglycons have very diversified structures, such as lactones, fatty acids, quinones, antraquinones, terpenoids and steroids. Many glycosides possess biological activities such as antimicrobial, analgesic, anti-hypertensive, among others (1,7). Cardenolides are good examples of bioactive glycosides, possessing high cardiotonic (22) and cytotoxic (5) activities.…”
