Abstract:<p></p><p>Onchocerciasis (also known as river
blindness<i>)</i> is a neglected tropical
disease caused by the <i>Onchocerca volvulus</i>
parasitic nematode. Currently, the only approved drug for treating this disease
is ivermectin, which is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent. However, signs of
