Abstract

Depending on aryl substituents and reaction conditions, 3‐(2‐aminoethylthio)‐1‐(aryl)‐3‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)propan‐1‐ones [(III) and (VI)] or thiazepines [(IV), (VII), and (IX)] are synthesized by reaction of various chalcones with aminoethanethiol employed as the hydrochloride in the presence of triethylamine.
