“…Ce-Ni-Si [39,40], Y-Ni-Si [41] and Gd-Ni-Si [42]), and it is in full agreement with empirical rules summarized by Bodak et al [6]. The known R-Ni-Si (R¼Ce, Gd, Y) isothermal sections [39][40][41][42] will have to be updated, by adding the data on the new compounds recently identified (this work, [19,20]).…”

“…Structures of the ternary compounds DyNi 10 Si 2 [10], DyNi 5 Si 3 [11], DyNi 2 Si 2 [12], Dy 2 Ni 3 Si 5 [13], DyNiSi 3 [14], Dy 3 Ni 6 Si 2 , DyNiSi 2 [15], DyNiSi [16], Dy 3 NiSi 3 [17] and Dy 3 NiSi 2 [18] have been already investigated; more recently, the structures and magnetic properties of DyNi 4 Si [19] and DyNi 6 Si 6 [20] have been reported. Isothermal sections of the Dy-Sc-Si [21], Dy-Ti-Si [22], Dy-V-Si [23], Dy-Cr-Si [21], Dy-Fe-Si [24][25][26], Dy-Cu-Si [27], Dy-Co-Si [28] and Dy-Mn-Si [29] phase diagrams and the crystal structure of the ternary compounds formed in these systems were investigated too.…”

“…This assumption is justified by the fact that isoelectronic atoms, Lu, Y, and Sc, occupy equivalent positions in the u.c. and the experimental atomic positions of the considered Sc2Fe3Si5 system [37] and e.g. Er2Fe3Si5 [7] differ insignificantly, in spite of a considerable disparity in size between the Sc and Er atoms.…”

“…Among the chemical systems that are closely related to those investigated here, the most thoroughly studied are the systems Ce-Cu-Si [12] and Eu-Cu-Si [13]. A comparison of the corresponding copper and silver systems (Figs.…”
