Abstract: ChemInform Abstract The β-keto esters (III), derived from saccharin, are synthesized from diketene (I) and the trioxobenzoisothiazole (II). Coupling of (III) with the 3-aminocrotonates (IV) and the aldehydes (V) yields the dihydropyridines (VI).
