Abstract: Synthesis of Soluble Polypyrrole of the Doped State in OrganicSolvents.-Polymerization of pyrrole by using dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) as dopant and (NH4)2S2O8 as oxidant affords a polypyrrole (PP) soluble in m-cresol and conditionally soluble in CHCl3, CH2Cl2, and CHCl2CHCl2 on addition of DBSA. Soluble PP shows the same spectra of FT-Raman scattering and UV-VIS light absorption as those of electrochemically polymerized PP. The intrinsic viscosity of soluble PP in m-cresol is 0. 17 dl/g.
