Abstract

Synthesis of 6-(Methoxycarbonyl)prednisolone and Its Derivatives as New Antiinflammatory Steroidal Antedrugs.-The topical antiinflammatory activity of the title compound (VIII) and its derivatives (X) and (XIII) is found to be slightly less than that of prednisolone, while the ester (XI) has higher potency than prednisolone. All of them show dramatic reduction of systemic side effects such as pituitary-adrenal axis suppression and thymus atrophogenic effects following multiple topical applications. -(HONG, D.; HEIMAN, A.
