1992organo-boron compounds, nonmetal heterocycles organo-boron compounds, nonmetal heterocycles S 0047 -207Synthesis and X-Ray Crystal Structure of a C2B4 "Carbons Apart" Carborane Dianion. 2,4-Bis(trimethylsilyl)-2,4-dicarba-nidohexaborate( 2-): A New Synthon in Organometallics.-Reduction of the closo-carborane (I), having adjacent carbons, with sodium naphthalide in THF produces the novel nido-compound (IV) ( dimeric cluster: space group Pbca with Z = 8) with a "carbons apart" geometry.
