Abstract

ChemInform Abstract The ligands are prepared by reaction of 2,2-dimethyl-3,5,7-octanetrione with the primary amines in refluxing MeOH in the presence of one drop of conc. H2SO4. They react with Cu acetate in refluxing MeOH to give the complexes (I) (yields not given). (Ia) crystallizes in the space group P1 with Z=2 and (Ib) in P21/c with Z=2. The former contains stacks of benzene molecules sandwiched between the Cu complexes. All the complexes are diamagnetic; 1H NMR data are given. Unusual chemical shifts are observed due to anisotropy generated by the aromatic ketimine substituent and the presence of the Cu(II) center. Some electrochemical data are given for (Id).
