Abstract:Synthesis and Pyrolysis of Tetrahydro-1,4-oxazine-3,5-diones and Tetrahydro-1,4-thiazine-3,5-diones. -A range of N-substituted tetrahydrooxazinediones and related thiazinediones (III) (11 examples in all) are synthesized and characterized spectroscopically. Their pyrolysis under f.v.p. conditions takes an unexpected course furnishing N-substituted acetamides (IV) and nitriles (V). A mechanism for the formation of these products is proposed. -(AITKEN, R.
