Abstract: Synthesis and Optical Resolution of an Asymmetrically SubstitutedCalix(4)arene. -Alkylation of the phenol (I) with the bisbromomethylphenol (II) yields the compound (III) which is converted into the tetrapropyl ether (±) -(VI) by subsequent reaction with propyl bromide (IV) in the presence of sodium hydride.
