ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis and Antimicrobial Properties of O‐Acylserin Alkyl Esters.

Abstract: 325ChemInform Abstract D,L-Serin (I) is first esterificated and then acylated at the hydroxy group to produce the title compounds (V). Solubility in water, surface activity, chromatographic behaviour and bacteriostatic properties of these compounds are studied.

“…It is noteworthy that in the last case, for example in the water-toluene system, the yield of the target product is appreciably reduced. 15 In the study of the kinetics of the acylation of a-aminoacids by benzoyl chloride in aqueous solutions, it has been shown 21 that the amino-group in the aminoacids investigated has a high reactivity, which is determined by the form in which the acid exists in solution. The forms having free amino-groups, H 2 NCHRCOO-(A) and H 2 NCHRCOOH (B), are the most reactive, the activity of form A being higher.…”

“…1 " 11 However, there is at present only isolated information about the methods of synthesis of acylaminoacids suitable for industrial application, their properties, and their practical applications. 12 " 15 The large number of continuously appearing publications on this topic has necessitated a survey of the accumulated information.…”
