ChemInform Abstract: Syntheses of Antileukemic (Indolylvinyl)indoles.

Abstract: Reaction of corresponding aldehydes (Ia) or (Id) with phosphonium bromides (Ic) or (If) (prepared from (Ia), (Id) via (Ib), (Ie)) according to literature procedures yields the title compounds (IIa)‐(IIc) from which the derived antileukemic imidazolinyl compounds (IId)‐(IIf) are prepared by known methods.

“…Several two-carbon indole linkers have been reported in the literature,(40, 41) but we expected that these would be too rigid and/or short to be effective disulfide replacements. Accordingly, we pursued a convergent synthesis of symmetrical bis-indoles by reacting suitable aniline derivatives with bis-alkynes.…”
