Abstract: Remote Hydroxylation Through Radical Translocation and Polar Crossover. -The site-selective replacement of relatively inert aliphatic C-H bonds with the hydroxy group is facilitated by employing the photocatalyst together with sulfonate esters and sulfonamides and involves a radical translocation, oxidation to carbocation, and nucleophilic trapping with H 2O under mild reaction conditions.
