Abstract

In the search for evidence of direct γ‐H abstraction the direct irradiations of the Z‐carbonyl compounds (IIa), (IV), and (VI) are carried out to give the corresponding E‐isomers such as (Ia), in contrast to (IIb) and (IIc), which form cyclobutanols such as (III).
