ChemInform Abstract: Oxidative Rearrangement of Indoles to Oxindoles.

Abstract: Oxidative Rearrangement of Indoles to Oxindoles. -An unexpected rearrangement is observed when indole substrates bearing 2-hydroxymalonate residues are subjected to iodination conditions A). This unusual and unprecedented transformation is successfully applied to a number of derivatives. Selective hydrogenation of the alkene part becomes possible in the presence of NaBH4. -(MORAN*, W.
