Abstract

One-Pot Synthesis of Pyrimidine-5-carboxaldehyde and Ethyl Pyrimidine-5-carboxylate by Utilizing Pyrimidin-5-yllithium.-Reaction of pyrimidin-5-yllithium, generated by metalation of 5-bromopyrimidine (I), with ethyl formate (II) or cyanoformate (IV) at low temperatures leads to the formation of 5-pyrimidinecarboxaldehyde ( III) and the pyrimidinecarboxylate (V) respectively. -(RHO, T.; ABUH, Y.
