ChemInform Abstract: ON THE POLAROGRAPHIC REDUCTION OF GRISEOFULVIN AND SOME OF ITS DERIVATIVES

“…OXYGEN AND SULFUR HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS Diphenylene dioxide (182) and benzofuroxan (1082) were studied in aqueous and nonaqueous media. Griseofulvin was determined polarographically (1128) Data for 2-chloro-ethylthio esters of aromatic and furancarboxylic acid derivatives were reported as a function of pH and correlated to constants (1124). Lowest vacant molecular orbital energies and reduction data were correlated for 4-and S-substituted benzofurans (314) and for oxonin, thionin, selenin, and 2,7-diaminophenazine (also UV absorption) derivatives (603).…”

“…Acids. The most extensively used solvent for titrations in this class of compounds is acetic acid (51,61,85,92,108,129,163,165,166,169,199,203,207,223,224,277,278,289,309,310,313,316, 322) and its mixtures with acetic anhydride (97,134,173,312), chloroform (206,287), formic acid (51), haloacetic acids (56,89), sulfuric acid (204), BF3 (235), acetonitrile (156,165), ketones (245,246), alcohol (241), and benzene (190). A review containing much useful information on the solvent properties of anhydrous acetic acid has been published (238).…”
