Abstract

Carboxylic amides Q 0490o-Amine-Assisted Cannizzaro Reaction of Glyoxal with New 2,6-Diaminoanilines.-The reaction requires ortho-amino substitution and the yields are mostly improved when 1 equiv. of glyoxal (II) is used compared to 0.5 equiv. α-Hydroxy amides (III), (IX), α-amino carboxamide (V) or imidazole (VII) are obtained depending on the substitution pattern.
