ChemInform Abstract: Metal‐Centered Deltahedral Zintl Ions: Synthesis of [Ni@Sn9]4‐ by Direct Extraction from Intermetallic Precursors and of the Vertex‐Fused Dimer [{Ni@Sn8(μ‐Ge)1/2}2]4‐.
Abstract:The endohedral cluster [Ni@Sn9] 4is extracted in en from the new precursors (I), (IV), and (VII), which are obtained from mixtures of the elements (Nb containers, 950°C, 2 d). The structures of the new compounds (II), (III), (VI), and (VIII) are determined by single crystal XRD. (II) and (III) crystallize in the triclinic space group P1 with Z = 2, (VI) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 2, and (VIII) in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4.
