Abstract: Metabolites of the Higher Fungi. Part 31. Longianone, a C 7 H 6 O 4 Spiro Bicyclic Lactone from the Fungus Xylaria longiana (Rehm.). -The new metabolite (I) possesses an unusual structure which is produced in static culture by the title fungus. The structure of longianone is confirmed by a single crystal X-ray determination.
