Abstract

First Synthesis and Reactivities of Isolable Dithiiranes and Their 1-Oxides.-The synthesis of the first isolable dithiirane oxides (IV) and (V) and the unoxidized dithiirane derivative (VIII) by phase-transfer catalyzed oxidation of bicyclic 1,3-dithietanes or its S-oxides is accomplished. The dithiirane (VIII) thermally isomerizes to the oxadithiolane (IX).
