bridged compoundsbridged compounds Q 0060 -092Direct Metalation of 1,3,5,7-Tetranitrocubane with Amides of Tin and Lead.Preparation and Chemistry of o-Nitrostannanes and o-Nitroplumbanes in the Cubyl Series.-Metalation of tetranitrocubane (I) generates easily isolable and stable mono-to tetrasubstituted organometallic derivatives depending on the ratio of (I) to the metal amides used. In the case of bulkier (diethylamino)tributylstannanes, metalation of (I) stops after the second metalation step and is slower. Reaction of organometallic tetranitrocubanes with electrophiles leads in case of tin derivative (III) with unexpected cleavage of the methyl-tin bond to (IV); in case of lead derivatives (VI) and (X) mainly cubyl-lead bond cleavage to compounds (VIII) and (XI) is observed. The utility of lead derivatives for functionalization of (I) is demonstrated by successful synthesis of penta-and hexanitrocubanes (XII) and (XIV). -(LUKIN, K. A.; LI, J.; EATON, P.
