Abstract

Cyclizations of the a,c‐biladienes (I), (IV), (VI) under the conditions shown in the scheme yield the corresponding meso‐substituted porphyrins (IIa), (Va), or (VIIa) (after the removal of copper) along with small amounts of the corresponding unsubstituted analogues (IIb), (Vb), (VIIb).
