Abstract: Crystals of Ba2CaFeAl2F14 (idealized composition) are obtained by solid state reaction of a stoichiometric mixture of BaF2, CaF2, and AlF3 (Mo foil covered C tool steel reactor, 1173 K, 1 d; cooling to 973 K with a rate of 10 K/h).
