Abstract: 307ChemInform Abstract The title compound (VII), a potential inhibitor of plant aromatic amino acid biosynthesis, is successfully constructed. The centerpiece of the convergent strategy is the heptulopyranosidonate (III) which can be obtained by D-fructose (II) with immobilized enzyme synthesis (i.e.s.) of the phosphonate (Ia) or from D-glucose by using whole cell synthesis of the acid (Ib).
