ChemInform Abstract: Construction of an Enzyme‐Targeted Organophosphonate Using Immobilized Enzyme and Whole Cell Synthesis.

307ChemInform Abstract The title compound (VII), a potential inhibitor of plant aromatic amino acid biosynthesis, is successfully constructed. The centerpiece of the convergent strategy is the heptulopyranosidonate (III) which can be obtained by D-fructose (II) with immobilized enzyme synthesis (i.e.s.) of the phosphonate (Ia) or from D-glucose by using whole cell synthesis of the acid (Ib). Alternatively, (III) can be chemically synthesized starting from the deoxyglucose (VIII). -The transformation of (III) into the target molecule (VII) is performed as shown in the scheme.
