ChemInform Abstract: Constituents of the Essential Oil of Strobilanthes auriculatus.

Abstract: 260ChemInform Abstract The new natural products (II) and (III) are among 23 identified constituents of the title oil, containing a surprisingly high amount of (-)-isoborneol (I) and related compounds (> 82%). The structure of (IIa) is confirmed by a reinvestigation of the synthesis of the parent diol.

“…Helichrysum italicum has been studied in the past for its polar constituents (9, 10, ii); as far as we know there is only one report in the literature on the essentail oil chemistry of H. italicum (12) As a part of a systematic research on the chemical composition and biological properties of the essential oils of the Greek flora, we report in this study the essential oil compositions of H. amorginum and H. italicum. The aerial parts of the plants were submitted for 3 hours to steam distillation (16) and the obtained oils were dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and stored at 4-6°C.…”
