ChemInform Abstract: Competitive Reactions in the Synthesis of Nitrendipine.

Abstract: Reaction of the methyl benzylideneacetoacetate (Ia) with the ethyl acetoacetate (II) gives nitrendipine (IIIc) as the main product, together with the symmetrical esters (IIIa) and (IIIb).
