ChemInform Abstract: Catalytic Oxidative Carbonylation of Arylamines to Ureas with W(CO)6/I2 as Catalyst.

Abstract: Title carbonylation reaction of a wide variety of aromatic amines (I) with carbon monoxide is smoothly achieved in the system iodine—DMAP—W(CO)6 to give symmetrical diarylurea derivatives (III).

“…Several synthetic processes have been reported for the creation of urea structures 64 , 65 . Many transition metal-catalyzed processes including metals like Pd 66 , 67 , Mn 68 , W 69 , Au 70 , Ni 71 , and Ru 72 have been used to synthesize urea. Conventional approaches, such as the interaction of amines with commercially or in situ-produced isocyanates, continue to be one of the most straightforward and accessible ways to obtain these molecules 73 , 74 .…”
