ChemInform Abstract: Brominative Deoxygenation of Some Aldehydes and Ethers.

Abstract: Brominative Deoxygenation of Some Aldehydes and Ethers. -The formation of a rearrangement product (VI) in the brominative deoxygenation of pivalaldehyde (IV) indicates a carbonium character of this reaction. Compound (VI) is easily transformed to dibromide (V) by action of KOtBu. As shown for the oxirane (VIII) the bromination proceeds with high stereoselectivity, possibly via a bromonium intermediate. -(VON ROMAN, U.; KNORR, R.; BEHRINGER, C.; RUHDORFER, J.; J. Prakt.
