ChemInform Abstract: Asymmetric Reductions Using the Chiral Boronic Ester TarB—H: A Practical and Inexpensive Procedure for Synthesizing Chiral Alcohols.
Abstract:Alcohols. -Aromatic and aliphatic alcohols are reduced by NaBH4 in the presence of L-tartaric acid derived boronic esters (I) to give the corresponding alcohols with up to 99% enantiomeric excess. The phenylboronic acid is recovered quantitatively using a simple extraction with NaOH and Et2O. -(EAGON, S.; KIM, J.; YAN, K.; HADDENHAM, D.; SINGARAM*, B.; Tetrahedron Lett. 48 (2007) 51, 9025-9029; Dep.
