This article deals with oxidative C(sp

)H bond functionalization reactions mediated by hydride abstractor‐type oxidants. An overview of the state‐of‐the‐art in this area is provided, sorted primarily by hydride abstractor type and reaction category. Although the number of examples implying hydride abstractor‐mediated CH bond functionalization reactions is still relatively limited, the methods described in this article display a variety of advantageous alternatives from an atom and step economic point of view to classical transition‐metal‐catalyzed cross‐coupling reactions. Hence, the use of oxoammonium salts as mild oxidants has been furthermost explored and their applications in dehydrogenative cross‐coupling, including nucleophilic addition, cyclization, or tandem reactions, are discussed first. In the following, CH bond functionalization reactions with other types of hydride abstractors such trityl salts, tropylium salts, and DDQ mediated processes are presented.
