Abstract: Addition, Substitution, and Deoxygenation Reactions of α-Phenyl-. beta.-nitrostyrenes with the Anions of Thiols and Diethyl Phosphite: Formation of Indoles by Reaction with Ethyl Phosphites. -Deoxygenation of the 1,1-diphenyl-2-nitroalkenes (I) with triethyl phosphite yields the indoles (II).
