Abstract: A Practical Protocol for the Highly (E)-Selective Formation of Aryl-Substituted Silylketene Acetals. -Slow addition of the ester (I) to a mixture of LiN(Tms)2 and TmsCl at 95°C is found to allow formation of aryl-substituted silylketene acetals with excellent (E)-selectivity.
