Abstract:A First Approach to Asymmetric Protonation via a Polymer-Supported Chiral Proton Donor.-The asymmetric protonation of the silyl enol ether (IV) derived from racemic mandelic acid (I) with a chiral polymeric proton donor, prepared by binding (D)-mandelic acid to a Merrifield resin, results in isolation of (L)-mandelic acid (II) after acidic ring cleavage.
