Abstract

The readily available ester (I) undergoes twofold amide acetal Claisen rearrangement to give the separable cis‐ and trans‐isobacteriochlorins (IIIa) and (IIIb), both of which exist as non‐separable mixtures of geometrical isomers concerning the newly formed exocyclic double bonds.
