Abstract

198 ChemInform Abstract Hexahydropyrene (I) is coupled with the methylsulfinylacetate (II) to yield the α-methylthiocarboxylic acid (III). This is dehydrogenated, desulfurized, and then saponified, producing the pyrenylacetic acid (IV) which is converted to the title compound (VI) by known methods.
