Abstract:A Bismuth-Stabilized Metal-Rich Telluride Lu 9 Bi ≈ 1.0Te ≈ 1.0 -Synthesis and Characterization. -The title phase is synthesized by arc-melting of Lu and BiTe (obtained by heating a 1:1 molar mixture of Bi and Te at 800°C for 12 h) followed by annealing at 1070°C for 15 d (up to 90 vol.% yield). Lu9Bi0.99Te1.01 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmc21 with Z = 8 (single crystal XRD) and is isostructural with Sc 9 Te 2 .
