Chemiluminescent determination of hydrogen peroxide with 9-acridinecarbonylimidazole and use in measurement of glucose oxidase and alkaline phosphatase activity

Abstract: Several activated derivatives of 9-acridinecarboxylic acid were prepared in order to investigate their utility for detection of hydrogen peroxide. One of these derivatives, 9-acridinecarbonylimidazole (I), is especially stable and is a useful reagent for measuring, by chemiluminescence, the activity of a number of enzymes that directly produce peroxide, including glucose oxidase. Other enzymes can also be assayed if an appropriate intermediate substrate exists that ultimately produces hydrogen peroxide after b… Show more

“…Therefore, the monitoring of H 2 O 2 in wastewater samples is important to prevent the entry of this toxic chemical in to the environment. 1−3 The analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry, 4 infrared spectroscopy (IR), 5 chemiluminescence, 6 fluorimetry, 7 and cyclic voltammetry (CV) 8,9 are commonly used for the determination of H 2 O 2 in a variety of samples. Spectrophotometry, chemiluminescence, and fluorimetry are found to be simple and sensitive techniques.…”

“…glucose oxidase, horseradish peroxidase) and other important bioanalytes. [1][2][3]8,10,11 AEs were also utilized to determine trace amounts of environmental pollutants, such as hydrogen peroxide or substituted phenols. 3,12 Recently, acridinium salts were employed in serial clinical assays performed with the aid of automated clinical analyzerssuch as Abbott Prism® or Siemens Advia Centaur®in the routine monitoring of blood quality for the presence of HBC, HCV, HIV-1, HIV-2 and other viruses.…”

“…Recently, various nanomaterials such as gold , silver , selenium , iron(II) and (III) oxide and cupric oxide nanoparticles with redox catalytic properties have attracted the attention of researchers as alternatives to catalyze CL reactions and provide enhanced CL emission. In 2012, Chen et al found that cupric oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) are capable of enhancing the CL of the luminol–H 2 O 2 system up to 400‐fold.…”
