Chemical quenching and inhibition of positronium in Cr2O3/Al2O3 catalysts

Abstract: The pore structure of Cr 2 O 3 /Al 2 O 3 catalysts and the surface chemical properties of these pores were characterized by positron lifetime and coincidence Doppler broadening (CDB) measurements. Four lifetime components could be resolved from the positron lifetime spectrum, with two long lifetime components and two short lifetime components. The two long lifetimes τ 4 and τ 3 are attributed to ortho-positronium (o-Ps) annihilation in large pores and microvoids, respectively. With increasing Cr 2 O 3 content,… Show more

“…In a recent positron annihilation study [9] carried out on a mixture of Cr 2 O 3 and Al 2 O 3 nanopowders o-Ps formation inhibition was observed with increasing concentration of Cr 2 O 3 and attributed to Cr 3+ cations which may capture free electrons in the spur created by slowing down positron. This may happen also in our case of YSZ nanopowders doped with chromia since Cr has higher redox potential than Zr and Y.…”

“…Most researches in sludge treatment field focus on sludge treatment process, processing units, improvement of dewatered sludge's solid content, development and application of polymer, and so forth [1,2,3,4]. However, for an industrial wastewater treatment plant, one of its targets is to increase its capacity constantly to accommodate the factory's development.…”
