Chemical modification of TiO2 by H2PO4−/HPO42− anions using the sol-gel route with controlled precipitation and hydrolysis: enhancing thermal stability

Abstract: Two titanium phosphate materials (T p P and T h P) have been successfully synthesized by sol-gel route with controlled precipitation and hydrolysis. The T p P material was obtained from the reaction between precipitated titania and phosphate buffer solution H 2 PO − 4 /HPO 2− 4 (pH = 7.3). The T h P material was prepared through hydrolysis of titanium in the presence of H 2 PO − 4 /HPO 2 4 . The probable state of the phosphate anions in titania framework and their effect on the anatase-to-rutile transformation… Show more

“…Indeed, a broad band at 1074 cm -1 attributed to H2PO4 2- [54,55] is observed for material calcined at 380°C, it shifts to 1109 cm -1 after calcination at 600°C and splits into two bands at 1034 cm -1 and 1205 cm -1 after calcination at 800°C. The band at 1034 cm -1 was attributed to Ti-O-P bond [53]. After thermal treatment at 900°C the FTIR spectrum displayed the bands at 960, 979, 1049, 1092, 1205 et 1281 cm -1 that are characteristics of the P2O7 4from TiP2O7 phase [53].…”

“…Solid state NMR experiments were run to investigate the evolution of the environment of the heteroatoms with the increase of the heating temperature when it was possible such as for TiO2 containing PO4 3-, Si 4+ and Al 3+ materials. TiO2 containing PO4 3calcined at 380, 600, 800 and 900°C have been analyzed by that was attributed to an unknown titanium crystalline phase [53]. The relative proportion of the crystalline phase TiP2O7 in which 1 phosphorus is coordinated via 3 oxygen to 3 titanium is about 80%.…”

“…Phosphates have been used as ceramic materials, catalysts, fluorescent materials, dielectric substances, metal‐surface treatments, detergents, food additives, in fuel cells, as pigments, and so on . Phosphate materials are recognized to have high biocompatibility and thermal stability, and are therefore expected to be useful as white pigments in cosmetics. White pigments that are not photocatalytically active are required for skin protection during cosmetic use.…”
